Squeeze at Majestic Theatre San Antonio | September 22, 2026

Squeeze is finally playing the album they wrote as teenagers. Trixies, released in March 2026 after nearly a half-century in the making, started as a concept sketched by Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook before the band had ever played a proper venue — songs set inside a fictional nightclub, the two of them working through the rock opera and concept album forms they’d been studying. Glenn Tilbrook is matter-of-fact about it: “These are very much the same songs that we wrote then.” The Tried, Tested and Trixies Tour brings the finished work to the San Antonio stop at the Majestic Theatre on September 22.

About the Show

Difford and Tilbrook have been at the center of Squeeze since they formed in London in 1974 — Tilbrook had answered an ad Difford placed looking for a guitarist, and the partnership that followed produced some of the most durable songwriting of the British pop era. “Tempted” (produced by Elvis Costello), “Cool For Cats,” “Up the Junction,” “Black Coffee in Bed,” “Hourglass.” A catalog five decades in the building, with covers by Erykah Badu, The Shins, and Joe Cocker along the way. The band earned the Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music in 2008. Trixies, their first studio record in eight years and produced by bassist Owen Biddle, is the occasion for this 29-date North American run, which opened at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on August 16 and wraps September 27 at Detroit’s Masonic Temple. Difford has said he’s “never felt more inspired by my own band.” The tour comes in the months following a real loss: Gilson Lavis, the band’s drummer from the late 1970s through early 1990s, passed away in November 2025.

The San Antonio date brings a serious undercard. Adam Ant joins as special guest — he broke into the U.S. Top 20 with “Goody Two Shoes” in 1982 — and Haircut 100, the UK Top 10 act behind “Love Plus One,” opens the show. Squeeze promises hits and classics alongside the new material, “and probably a few surprise deep cuts, too.” The band is also collecting food donations at each venue for the charity Trussell, which provides emergency food assistance.
