Sonic Live in Concert makes the argument that 35 years of Sonic the Hedgehog music — running from the original 1991 game through 2025’s Crossworlds — is substantial enough to fill a concert hall, performed by a live ensemble of orchestral musicians, rock players, vocalists, and electronic artists. Senbla and SEGA of America built the production for exactly that purpose, and the global tour that opened in Hollywood in September arrives in San Antonio at Boeing Center at Tech Port on Saturday, October 10.
About the Show
The show draws from the complete arc of the franchise, pairing live performances with synchronized HD footage of iconic game levels, boss battles, and moments from across the franchise’s history. Per the production’s own release, musical Easter eggs are woven into the arrangements — details that reward close listening in a live room in ways the recorded versions of these tracks cannot replicate. The set covers the franchise’s most recognizable music from across 35 years, including entries from the most recent releases.
Central to the show is the compositional legacy of Jun Senoue and Tomoya Ohtani. Their work is credited across multiple sources as having shaped the franchise’s musical identity across generations, and the production is built around honoring that body of work in a live setting. SEGA of America’s chief business and brand officer Ivo Gerscovich described music as “a core part of Sonic’s identity, shaping how fans experience this world.” Senbla CEO Ollie Rosenblatt, who developed the production, stated: “Sonic has some of the most distinct and celebrated music in gaming” and that the goal was to “create a live show that stays true to what the fans love about Sonic’s music.”
The U.S. leg opened with preview performances September 20 in Spokane before the official U.S. debut at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on September 26. The fall run takes in more than 30 North American cities before a holiday break, with San Antonio among the later Texas stops. The tour then continues to the UK in February 2027, with confirmed dates in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, and Birmingham.
