Thirty years ago, if you wanted to catch Rodney Carrington, you found him on a syndicated morning radio show or in a mid-sized comedy club somewhere between Beaumont and Amarillo — a Longview, Texas kid who had figured out that the territory between country music and stand-up was not a no-man’s-land but a place where a man could build a career, provided he was willing to tour relentlessly and not take himself too seriously. By 1998, Hangin’ With Rodney had put him on a major label and the country’s morning drive was full of his voice. On Friday, October 2, 2026, the Rodney Carrington Live 2026 tour brings that same hybrid act — stand-up, guitar, stories about everything America tries to keep civil at the dinner table — to the Majestic Theatre San Antonio. Doors at 6:00 PM, show at 7:00 PM CT.
About Rodney Carrington
A native of Longview, Carrington has spent nearly thirty years refining what he does onstage: sharp, storytelling-driven stand-up about everyday life and relationships, broken up by original comedy songs he performs live on guitar. It is an act that moves fluidly between spoken material and full musical performance — part comedy set, part acoustic show — and it runs 75 to 90 minutes without intermission. The material covers everyday life, social trends, and the absurdities of modern America, with new stories and fresh songs tailored to the places he visits. The content is emphatically adult in orientation, and he doesn’t apologize for it.
Carrington has recorded eleven comedy albums across his career — eight on major labels, three on his own imprint, Laughter’s Good Records. Two of those albums earned RIAA gold certification; his Greatest Hits collection reached platinum status. The 2017 release Here Comes the Truth climbed to No. 3 on the comedy charts, accumulated millions of Spotify streams, and produced a Netflix special. His most recent album, Get Em Out (2019), hit No. 1 on iTunes.
Beyond the stage, he starred for two seasons in his own ABC sitcom, Rodney; co-wrote and co-starred in the film Beer for My Horses alongside Toby Keith; and published a memoir, Rodney Carrington, Coming Clean, through Hachette Books. By the numbers that matter on the road, he belongs in the conversation: the tours consistently place him among the top ten highest-grossing touring comedians in the country.
One note for prospective ticket-buyers: this is a mature-audiences-only show. The Majestic enforces it, and Carrington’s material does nothing to suggest otherwise.
