Kany García brings her Puerta Abierta Tour to the Majestic Theatre San Antonio on Wednesday, September 9 — the second U.S. date on a 76-date world run that launched September 7 in Highland, California. The booking reads correctly: a 2,264-capacity theater for an artist on her tenth studio album who has been steadily growing her audience without altering her fundamental approach. This is the right room.
About Kany García
García grew up in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, studying classical music as a child — cello first, then guitar at Escuela Libre de Música, followed by formal training at the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico. Her debut album Cualquier Día (2007) went gold and earned her Latin GRAMMYs for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Album. She has since won six Latin Grammy Awards from twenty nominations and received three Grammy nominations. She writes her own material. The conservatory training and the songwriting instincts are inseparable.
Puerta Abierta, her tenth album, was released April 9, 2026 on 502 Records — eleven tracks built from a new process. She conceptualized the record before writing a single song, working backward from concept. “I did everything backward,” she said. “Full of learning, and I think it gave me more clarity and direction.” The album draws on Puerto Rican roots music, bachata, norteño, and tropical instrumentation. Standouts include “Amor Bonito,” a merengue pambiche recorded in the Dominican Republic with Juan Luis Guerra, and “A La Niña Que Fui,” a flamenco-inflected acoustic closer featuring backup vocals from twenty women, including her 82-year-old mother. Other collaborators on the record: Yuridia, Rawayana, and Nathy Peluso.
The tour runs 76 dates globally, closing December 4 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Several stops — Bogotá, Medellín, Santo Domingo — are already sold out. VIP packages with meet-and-greet and early entry are available through vipnation.com.
