Three years after Jimmy Buffett’s death, his touring band is back on a nineteen-venue amphitheater run, and they’re calling it the Keep the Party Going Tour — which is exactly what Buffett told them to do before he died. Margaritaville Presents Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band lands at Moody Amphitheater at Waterloo Park on Thursday, July 23, opening a three-night Texas run: Austin, then Houston the following night, Fort Worth the night after.
About the Coral Reefer Band
Leading the band is Mac McAnally, who spent decades as Buffett’s musical right hand and has won ten CMA Musician of the Year awards — a credential worth naming because it’s easy to write off the Coral Reefer Band as a tribute act and miss who’s actually standing on that stage. McAnally heads a full vocal lineup that includes Scotty Emerick, Will Kimbrough, Peter Mayer, and Nadirah Shakoor, all musicians who performed these songs alongside Buffett for years. The set pulls from the full catalog: the signature hits, the deeper cuts, and the personal stories that go with them from people who were actually there.
The tour’s charitable arm is Singing for Change, Buffett’s nonprofit that funds regional grassroots community organizations. The band is carrying that forward too.

The 5,000-capacity outdoor room is the right call for a show like this. A Coral Reefer set is a summer evening ritual for an audience that built its concert calendar around Buffett for decades — you need open sky and room to move. Moody Amphitheater at 1401 Trinity St in downtown Austin fits that requirement and books well at the scale of legacy acts on major summer tours. This Austin date sits at the midpoint of a run that kicks off July 9 in Bethlehem, PA and closes August 8 in Boston.
